The archaeological site of Moray and the salt mines of Maras are located in the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This journey will take you through a region filled with mysterious natural and cultural wonders.

The Circular Terraces of Moray: Your adventure begins in Moray, where you will discover a unique archaeological complex of its kind. The circular terraces of Moray are a series of agricultural amphitheaters built by the Incas. Each terrace has a different microclimate, which made Moray a center for agricultural experimentation in Inca times.

Las Salineras of Maras: Then our transport will take us to the Salineras de Maras, a network of thousands of salt evaporation pools on the slopes of the mountain. These salt pans date from pre-Inca times and are still in operation today. The sight of the white pools contrasting with the surrounding landscape is impressive.

Beautiful Landscapes of the Sacred Valley: As you explore Moray and Maras, you will be surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Andean mountains and terraced agricultural fields make for an impressive backdrop.

DAY 1: MARAS MORAY – HALF DAY

This archaeological site is unique. Which have many chroniclers and estudiadores says that it may be a centre of laboratory and research farm for the disposal of its inca terraces circulare, which were purely to generate a micro-climates, as cooler temperatures at higher by gradually reducing the temperatures being able to differentiate up to more than 20 climates different gift of adapted more than 350 different plants. Then we will head to Maras.

MARAS

This town was called as a village of Maras in the Spanish era that was founded by PEDRO ORTIZ DE ORUE it is said that this village was very important to evangelize to the people of Maras and its rededores in what today we can see in their cover of the houses carved in the rocks in the shields of the religion also have that the carriers were required to transport agricultural products and cusco.after continuing our visit we will arrive well Salineras.

SALINERAS

This place is known as the salt mines are constituted by about 400 wells of small salt. This built on the mountain of Cachiccata, where it leaves in salty water, this place was very important from the time Inca that the Inca gave the use of much value for food as is the charki meat or dissected. Today it continues to be the salt for export Asia, Europe, to obtain the salt, the villagers have to fill the pot then let the water evaporates and leaves the salt if it is done for a month or more to get the volume and the solidity of the salt. Then we will return directly to Cusco.

Visitamos el Monasterio de Santa Catalina, disfrutamos de la vista del Misti y vimos cóndores sobrevolando el cañón. La combinación de actividades al aire libre, como el ciclismo de montaña, la caminata por la selva, el rafting y la tirolesa, fue perfecta para nosotros. Lo mejor de todo fueron nuestras guías, Leidy y Karen, siempre estaban de buen ánimo, sus explicaciones eran buenísimas y muy descriptivas e interesantes, muy profesionales.
