ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If the tour is canceled due to weather conditions, will I get a refund?
Cancellations due to bad weather conditions are non-refundable, as these factors are beyond our control.
If my trip is canceled, is the Machu Picchu ticket refundable?
According to the latest updates from the Ministry of Culture, all ticket sales are final. Therefore, once purchased, tickets for Machu Picchu cannot be rescheduled, transferred to another date or person, and are non-refundable.
During my trip to Machu Picchu, where can I leave my larger luggage?
The railway company that operates to Machu Picchu does not allow travelers to carry bags weighing more than 5 kg (11 lbs). For the visit to Machu Picchu itself, it is recommended to bring only a small, light backpack for your comfort. Larger luggage can be safely stored at your hotel in Cusco.
Which train is better to Machu Picchu: Expedition or Vistadome Observatory?
We usually recommend taking the Expedition Train to Aguas Calientes and the Vistadome Observatory Train on the way back, for several reasons:
- The outbound journey is shorter and often done at dusk, so there is less opportunity to enjoy the scenery. The Expedition train is a simpler option, with smaller windows.
- The return trip takes more than 3 hours and is done in the afternoon, which allows you to fully enjoy the panoramic windows of the Vistadome Observatory.
- The Vistadome Observatory also offers a special observation car to immerse yourself in the Andean landscapes, with more comfort, onboard service, and some entertainment during the trip.
Is it recommended to travel to Peru with children?
Absolutely! Peru is a destination for the whole family, and children will love it. The only recommendation is to choose lighter routes without long hikes or exhausting journeys.
Do I need a Visa to enter Peru?
- Citizens of Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia can enter Peru with their national ID card.
- Travelers from countries such as Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, and others must present a passport valid for at least 6 months from their date of entry into Peru.
Is the Yellow Fever vaccine mandatory?
The Yellow Fever vaccine is not mandatory for travelers visiting Peru. However, it is recommended as a precaution, especially since Peru is considered a tropical country.
Is travel insurance required?
Travel insurance is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended, particularly for tourists who plan to do trekking, adventure sports, or other outdoor activities.
Electric outlets and voltage in Peru
The standard voltage in Peru is 220 volts, though some hotels also offer 110 volts. Many hotels provide transformers to adapt the current.
Which currency is best to use in Peru: U.S. Dollars or Soles? Where should I exchange money?
- U.S. Dollars are widely accepted in most businesses, so it is advisable to carry mostly dollars and a smaller amount of Peruvian Soles for local purchases such as handicraft markets.
- We recommend exchanging money only at reliable currency exchange offices recommended by the travel agency.
- Debit and credit cards are also accepted in many establishments for purchases and services.
What is the weather like in Peru?
Peru traditionally has four seasons: winter, summer, spring, and autumn. However, due to climate change, in recent years there are two main seasons:
- Rainy Season: December to March
- Dry Season: April to November
In the Cusco and Machu Picchu region, the weather can vary greatly. The rainy season is more intense, with temperatures ranging from around 24°C (75°F) during the day to -2°C (28°F) at night.
