The city of Chucuito has a distinctive Catholic religious environment as many Spanish Jesuits moved here during the 16th century. They built several temples in this region, leaving an important historical and cultural heritage in one of the most remote places in the region. Here’s what you can expect:
Temple of Fertility
Also known as the Uyo Inca Archaeological Site , it is believed to have been a ceremonial center of the Incas, where they worshiped Pachamama. Although some theories say that it could have been a center where women were “cured” from infertility.
Chucuito Old Town
As we mentioned before, this small town has a distinctive architectural style that harmonizes Andean and Spanish techniques. Here you can appreciate this authentic urban landscape as well as learn a little more about the history of the place.
Aramu Muru
Also known as Wilca Uta, it is a mysterious door carved into a stone more than 7 meters high. Aramu Muru originated different theories about its use during the Inca era, where all of them highlight this place as a portal to another dimension.
Juli
It is one of the most picturesque towns south of Puno, located 79 kilometers from the city. Juli is known as “Little Rome” for its beautiful religious buildings.
We will also visit other attractions along the route that you cannot miss.
Itinerary Aymara Route 1 Day
DAY 1: PRIVATE TOUR ON THE AYMARA ROUTE
Explore the historical legacy of the ancestral lordships and cultures that developed in the Peruvian mountains, in an experience that will transport you to the dawn of civilizations and evolution.
You will be picked up from your hotel to go to the mysterious Interdimensional Portal ” Aramu .” Muru “, there are rock formations and the finely carved portal with a slit in the middle; likewise, this place has positive energies for carrying out mystical, spiritual rituals and connection with nature.
Then, we will visit the impressive constructions called Chullpas de Molloco , a necropolis of the ancient Lupacas or Aymaras , with tubular and square structures in which the nobles were buried.
Continuing, we will go to the Thunco Geoglyphs , mega formations, whose purpose in ancient times was to preserve agriculture in times of frost.
Later we will visit Chucuito, upon arrival we will enter the Temple of Fertility “Inca Uyo ”, a sacred place to which miraculous facts about fertility are attributed; the main square where the Renaissance-style Church of the Assumption, the sundial, etc. are located. In the town you will have free time to have lunch and then return to the city of Puno.
