Itinerary Sacred Valley Tour Connection Machu Picchu 2 Days / 1 Night
DAY 1: SACRED VALLEY TOUR TO AGUAS CALIENTES CONNECTION.
On this day, we will pick you up directly from your hotel between 6:35 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. to begin our Sacred Valley of the Incas VIP Tour with train connection to Machu Picchu. The Sacred Valley of the Incas, located at approximately 2,790 meters (9,150 ft) above sea level, is one of the most important historical and agricultural regions of the Inca Empire, renowned for its fertile lands and the production of some of the finest corn in Peru.
Throughout the day, we will explore iconic destinations such as Chinchero, Moray, the Maras Salt Mines, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo—each showcasing impressive archaeological remains built during different periods of Inca rule.
Our first stop will be Chinchero, a charming Andean town famous for its traditional textile and ceramic craftsmanship. Here, we will enjoy a cultural demonstration and visit the colonial church, celebrated for its remarkable 15th- and 17th-century religious paintings, built atop Inca foundations. The visit lasts approximately 40 minutes.
Next, we travel to Moray, an extraordinary Inca agricultural laboratory featuring circular terraces used to experiment with crops at different altitudes and microclimates. We then continue to the Maras Salt Mines, a spectacular complex of over 3,000 salt pools that have been harvested since pre-Inca times. These salt ponds are still owned and managed by local families, who extract and naturally process the salt for local and international markets. Each visit lasts about 30 minutes.
We then head to Urubamba, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch in the heart of the Sacred Valley, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery. After lunch, we visit the Ollantaytambo archaeological site, a majestic Inca fortress and ceremonial center dating back to the 15th century, strategically built to control access to the valley.
In the afternoon, we board the train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes), the gateway town to Machu Picchu. The train journey takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the service selected. Upon arrival, our representative will meet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, your local guide will visit you to review the itinerary for the following day at Machu Picchu.
