We had a really great experience with Terra Quechua. Communication with Raquel was good from the start and we found it easy to book and organise the trip. It turned out it would only be my boyfriend and a friend in our group which made the whole thing feel quite bespoke. Before the day of departure we had a full briefing from our guide Lenin, who went through all the details and schedule of the trip. He was an absolutely fantastic guide, very funny and knowledgable. We were very relaxed in his company but also felt like we were in safe hands! His words of encouragement throughout the trek were also very welcome. Our porter and chef were great too, the food was delicious and varied (no scrambled eggs every day). They also catered for my wheat intolerance without making me feel like I was missing out at all. The staff and food couldn't be better, other groups were definitely looking on in envy at our plates! The 2 camps along the trek were a unique experience - the first beneath a looming glacier and the second beside a very impressive raging river! The hotel in Aguas Calientes was clean and the hot shower very welcome. The trek itself is not as hard as I thought, though the altitude does make it a lot harder to breathe. The views of Salkantay are incredible and the mountain really does command respect! The final day going up to Machu and Wuanay Picchu was everything we expected in that it was absolutely breathtaking (and hard work!). The train back to Cusco was also an experience as the narrow gage made the carriage sway quite a bit. Overall had a brilliant time with Lenin and his team and would highly recommend the trek.
